How To Be A Tourist In Your Hometown

Spring is an ideal season for adventure seekers to hit the road or board planes bound for exotic destinations. If you’re staying put, satiate your inner travel bug by exploring your hometown with fresh eyes. Snag a night away. Booking a hotel room or an Airbnb can help you experience your city like a tourist. Eat at a restaurant you’ve never been to before, and challenge yourself to start conversations with servers, bartenders or fellow patrons. Ask people what they enjoy most about your city – you may be surprised by what you learn. Become your city’s biggest fan. Think about the food, landmarks and outdoor activities your city is known for, and make a plan to experience them yourself. Even if they feel clichéd, your city’s main attractions are worth trying at least once, and they may make you a bigger champion of your hometown. Venture out with a camera. Looking through the lens of a camera can shift your perspective on even the most familiar places. Explore a part of town on foot, looking for new details and unique angles to capture. Try recreating photos you’ve seen online, or search for a great vantage point to take a panoramic shot at sunset.
