7 Fixes for Freshening Up Your Home

Sometimes all it takes is a little know-how and elbow grease to brighten up an old space. Try these fixes to bring a new look and breathe new life into your home.

Wash the windows. Inside and out. Spotless glass can transform a space. Don’t forget your screens!

Shine up the trim. Dusting, washing and touching up the paint on old trim is an automatic way to make a room look cleaner, brighter and well put together.

Refresh the grout. LiveLoveDIY blogger “Virginia” suggests Polyblend Grout Renew and scrubbing between tiles with a toothbrush.

Fill in the floors. Use wax stick stain markers to hide surface- level scratches in hardwood.

Switch out the hardware. New cabinet and drawer pulls, or even sink and shower faucets can go a long way to making a bathroom or kitchen feel new.

Clean stainless steel appliances. Use a microfiber cloth with a little vinegar to wipe away fingerprints and sticky spots.

Divide up big spaces. Cozy conversation areas within an open floor plan are gaining popularity. You can also hang curtains in doorways between rooms, invest in folding doors or get creative by breaking up the room with large pieces of furniture or free-standing art.
